Dear AMFA Represented Members at Alaska Airlines
Subject: AMFA NMB Filing Update
The Alaska/Hawaiian AMFA merger committee has been working diligently and thoroughly the past
couple of months. The committee has been visiting various stations that Hawaiian-IAM represented
technicians are stationed. The word has been spread throughout the system and industry, about the
benefits that an AMFA represented work force brings and the unity that we have.
The Merger committee held a webinar on April 15th, 2025. During that webinar, it was communicated to
the membership that a review with AMFA Legal was ongoing and that a filing with the NMB would take
place by next week. During that review with AMFA Legal, a few issues arose that need to be researched,
discussed and strategized against. Your ALR’s, Brandon Statfield (L14) and Jeff Heard (L32) are working
closely with AMFA Legal, Alaska Airlines Legal and Labor Relations to resolve the issues. The issues
that were identified revolve around Class & Craft for mechanics and how the NMB categorizes who is
class and craft for our industry. AMFA is a mechanics Union that represents technicians to elevate our
craft as skilled labor in the Aviation Industry. We will maintain that assertion when filing with the NMB
and are taking pre-emptive measures to ensure that our voice is heard and that the our membership is our
main focus, as we file with the NMB.
AMFA is committed to being as transparent and open with communication as possible. The timing of our
filing with the NMB is being delayed on our own accord, not by the company. We want to ensure all our
members that we are taking the precautionary measures necessary to put AMFA in the strongest of
positions as your representing union. Please reach out to your ALR’s or the merger committee for any
additional information. Additional webinars, flyers and communications will be sent out to the
membership as soon as any updates are available.
